Neuropsychology

Neuropsychology measures how the brain affects thinking, behavior, and day-to-day function using structured testing (memory, attention, processing speed, executive function).
Why it matters: When someone says “I’m not the same,” neuropsychology helps make cognitive changes measurable and connects results to real-world impact (work, school, daily tasks).
What it can look like: Trouble focusing/multitasking; memory lapses; word-finding difficulty; mental fatigue/overload; planning/organization problems (executive function).
How clinicians check it: Standardized cognitive tests; symptom history + observation; performance validity testing (PVT) when appropriate to support interpretability.
Common misunderstandings: Neuropsychology isn’t “just a personality test”; it doesn’t explain everything but can clarify patterns; it can be helpful even with normal MRI/CT because cognition is functional.

Neuropsychology turns cognitive concerns into measurable findings tied to real-life function.
